Kathryn began performing on stage at the age of 8 (piano) and the age of 12( with the 60’s girl group the Pixies). She has studied piano and voice extensively. Both piano teachers were concert pianists (one regularly with the Philadelphia Orchestra) and her present vocal coach sang leading soprano roles with the Metropolitan Opera for many years. Her performance background includes rock and roll, musical theater, recitals, soloist with acapella choirs (she and her college choir – Gettysburg College – made an around the world “Goodwill” singing tour on behalf of the US Department of State for a summer), choral groups – Harrisburg Singers / Jubilate, oratorical choral societies- Grantham Oratorio and Central Pennsylvania Oratorio, and church choir – Trinity Lutheran. She has also been singing leading soprano roles in opera for many years – Harrisburg Civic Opera, Capital Opera Harrisburg / Sacramento, and Center Stage Opera. For 18 years she sang with Opera Outreach, an educational outreach group that took opera to schools – elementary to university – in Pennsylvania. The group sang to about 16,000 students a year using props, make up and costumes. In retrospect it was wonderful preparation for her own opera company, Center Stage Opera – www.csopera.org – the only touring opera company based in Central Pa. Presently she also teaches voice and piano.
In addition to music Kathryn has extensive training in the Martial Arts – Judo, Tai Chi, Choi Kwon Do, and Hapkido Karate and teaches Tai Chi and self defense.
She is also a Professional Muscle Therapist, and the first woman allowed to work in NFL (Washington Redskins) and AHL/NFL (Hershey Bears / Flyers / Avalanche) training rooms. In honor of that she was inducted into the World Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in 1994. She maintains a private practice.
